field trip can be a valuable tool in making learning more engaging and provide unique opportunities for learning certain concepts, including legal concept, values, aesthetics, Social values etc. field trip, by which, the learners obtain first-hand information by observing places, object, phenomena and process in their natural settings. as per the COVID-19 pandemic situation during these two years most of the students did note get the opportunity to attend for a field trip. But we were lucky , that we are able to go for a field trip because of complete vaccination and in accordance with the protocol. We had decided to visit neyyar dam ,kottur elephant rehabilitation centre, Deer Park along with a visit to the government high secondary school, neyyar dam 21 December 2021 and even from our prestigious kaviyattu College of education. We started our journey from 8:30 and end up at 7:00 PM. the trip left us with an unforgettable memory.
NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE
field trip provide some of the unforgettable
moment in the college life .going on a field trip enhances critical thinking
skills and gives students a chance to think about a topic or theme from a
different perspective. we can experience what we learned in the school while
going to field trip. This experience getting from field trip also makes capable
of creating a scientific enquiry in students. The students are counted to their
first-hand experience. It also helped to do some kind of community service.
Field trip also strengthen classroom materials and bring classroom listen to life.

- know about the dam near and its habitat
- know about the re rehabilitation of crocodile and deer
- know about elephant habitat and its rehabilitation
- From the field trip we came to know about different plants and animals present in the neyyar dam

- By visiting the school, we got a chance to know about the facilities and skill of the teacher
DESCRIPTION
We
had started our journey on 21 December 2021 at 8:30 am from kavyattu College of
education along with the students and the corresponding teachers. Our first
destination is on government high secondary school near neyyar . we reached there at
about 8:30 and we spend an hour there. We had visited the classroom, interacted
with both teachers and students. Everyone looked around the school and its surroundings.
After this, we went to see neyyar dam, crocodile park and deer rehabilitation center. All these places were close to each other that’s why it is easy to
travel and time saving. These three places give beautiful and pleasing visual treat to the eyes and also unforgettable memories. Our final destination is on elephant
rehabilitation center kottur. We reached there at approximately 3:00 PM we spend
almost an hour there and return our journey.

HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL NEYYAR DAM.
As part of our field trip we firstly visited the government high secondary school on neyyar .As a student teacher it was an awesome experience as it was our first visit to a school. we all collected some study materials and had distributed among the students in the school itself. it was really very happiest moment. after that the school management had given the opportunity to visit the playground, class room, office, staff room, kitchen, library etc. We spend almost an hour there.
Flanked
by the water of the neyyar dam and moist deciduous forest and grassland, the
elephant rehabilitation center spread over 56 hectares and is surrounded by
trenches to keep wild animals at bay. The place consists of a vast area for
accommodating all the elephant. In 2019 Kerala government announced the project
to expand it does an elephant rehabilitation center with international standard.
It is the first rehabilitation center for elephant in India. There are many
elephants of different ages. All are protected very healthy and eco-friendly
manner. 30 elephants can be accommodated with in this comfortable zone at a
time. during our visit there were only 18 elephants in total. A two-year-old
rajju a 5-year-old poorna Once the main attraction there on that time. elephant
on them were looked after by a team of experts. The caretakers were friendly in
nature, they explained us about the details of every elephant on them like
their behaviour name, food pattern age etc. One of the other attractions are
the bamboo rafting and 93-kilometre trekking to kizhakkumalappara. The care
taker sad it was a sight to behold when the elephant are bathed and fed. The
elephant is fed with cooked rice and jaggery made in the shape of balls .They
said that it is quite amazing to watch mahouts feeding the elephant but we
missed it that sight because we got there in the evening .
NEYYAR CROCODILE PARK
we had visited Crocodile rehabilitation canter near neyyar dam. it was started in the year 1977. it is a core cradle breeding and rearing park. The number of crocodile varieties such as muggers are raised and released to the reservoir. Park also accommodates other reptiles like snakes that are caught by the tribal staying at the tribal village nearby. for short periods, before they are released back into the forest. recently an Indian Python caught from the forest their and it can be seen in the park. Crocodile protected in cages with attached pond filled with full of water. The upper portion of the cages grilled open so it gets sufficient air and light.
